Cannabis Edibles have become very popular in the recent years; especially, since it has been approved for use in treatment of serious diseases like mental health conditions and, even, cancer.

I have been consuming marijuana-infused edibles for a while now. I have also been involved in researching and raising awareness about this wonderful product so that more and more people can benefit from it. If you are new to the world of CBD or THC and its benefits, then this article can help you understand the basics.

Infused Edibles – The Fun Way to Take Your Dose

There are several ways to take your dose of Cannabis, such as –

  • Capsules

  • Powder

However, these traditional ways of taking cannabis are unappealing. One can easily get bored with popping pills or taking powders. If you are looking for a fun, exciting way to take your dose of CBD or THC then look no further than edibles.

I personally love to take CBD in the form of edibles. It keeps things interesting and also makes sure that you stay on schedule with your scheduled doses. I have compiled my research and experience to make this guide to help people get started with infused eatables.

If you are new to edibles or would like to start making your own then this guide is a great starting point.

What are edibles?

Marijuana edibles are basically food (or drink) items that have been infused with CBD or THC. They are safe to consume and are often a delectable way of consuming cannabis. It is ideal for people who don’t like the peculiar smell and taste of weed since it gets masked when mixed with something.

What are the different varieties available?

Nowadays, there is a wide variety in the edibles category. You can literally choose from a hundred different options such as –

  • Gummies, chocolates and candies
  • Brownies, blondies and cakes
  • Traditional cooking oils infused with Cannabis
  • Weed infused butters for cooking and baking

These are just some of the many choices available when purchasing a weed edible.

Can I make edibles at home?

Yes, you can make them at home. In fact, I have been making my very own at home since a long time now and it is a fun, de-stressing activity. It is also reassuring since I know every ingredient that has gone into the edible and can safely vouch for its quality.

Cannabidiol or CBD is a chemical compound that is extracted from the hemp and marijuana plants. It is a naturally occurring substance. It is not a psychoactive element unlike the other elements extracted from these plants. CBD is a wonderful product and can provide several benefits to people suffering from aches and pains or mental health issues.

What benefits can I get from consuming?

Research based evidence has revealed that CBD can have the following benefits –

  • It can provide you relief from chronic aches and pains in the body.
  • It can also relieve stress, depression, anxiety and other mental health conditions.
  • It can also help in fighting cancer and the side effects of cancer treatment.
  • It also has benefits for people suffering from skin problems such as acne.
  • It can also be used as a recreational tool to sit back, relax and unwind.

Is it legal to consume?

Yes, consumption of it is not only legal but has also been approved by authorities for medical treatment of a variety of diseases across the US. However, only CBD extracted from hemp plants is legal since it contains little or no THC. Legally, it can contain up to 0.3% THC. CBD extracted from marijuana plants is banned across states since it has higher levels of THC.

What are the side-effects?

Generally, CBD does not have any side effects, however, if you are taking a dose for the first time, you might experience a few symptoms such as –

  • Dry mouth
  • Drowsiness
  • Fatigue
  • Reduced appetite
  • Headache

These symptoms will go away with time as the body gets used to consuming it.

What is Tetrahydrocannabinol?

Tetrahydrocannabinol or THC is the principle psychoactive element in cannabis. It is this element that is responsible for the ‘stoned’ feeling that people experience when consuming marijuana or marijuana products.

What is the difference between CBD and THC?

There is a big difference between CBD and THC. While both are extracted from hemp and marijuana plants, CBD is a non-psychoactive element whereas THC has psychoactive properties. THC can have adverse effects on your health and make you ‘high’ or ‘stoned’; whereas CBD majorly has medical benefits to offer to people in pain and suffering.

Other Ways to Get Your Dose of Medical Marijuana

Taking your dose of marijuana in the form of gummies, chocolates and brownies is a delicious way; however, often you might not have the time to make these edibles at home. Or you might be too tired to cook or bake them. In either of the scenarios, you can try to take your dose in the following ways –

  • If you are looking to get quick relief, you can try capsules and softgels. They require no prior preparation and can be taken immediately.
  • If you need a bigger dose of CBD or THC, you can add a concentrate in a juice or other beverage. It will provide you the benefits in no time since it reacts very quickly.
  • You can even buy gummies or chocolates from a store near you or online and consume them whenever needed. The best part is that you can have them anytime, anywhere.
